Velvet Fabric

What kind of fabric is velvet?

The velvet material is very popular in the clothes and is very comfortable to wear, so it is loved by everyone, especially many silk stockings are velvet.

Velvet is also called Zhangrong. In fact, velvet has been produced in large quantities as early as the Ming Dynasty in China. Its origin is in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, China, so it is also called Zhangrong. It is one of the traditional fabrics in China. Velvet fabric uses cocoon grade A raw silk, also uses silk as warp, cotton yarn as weft, and silk or rayon as pile loop. Warp and weft yarns are first degummed or semi degummed, dyed, twisted and then woven. According to different uses, different materials can be used for weaving. In addition to the silk and rayon mentioned above, it can also be woven with different materials such as cotton, acrylic, viscose, polyester and nylon. So velvet fabric is not really made of velvet, but its hand feel and texture are as smooth and shiny as velvet.

What material is velvet?

The velvet fabric is made of high-quality veil. The raw materials are mainly 80% cotton and 20% polyester, 20% cotton and 80% cotton, 65T% and 35C%, and bamboo fiber cotton.

Velvet fabric is usually weft knitting terry fabric, which can be divided into ground yarn and terry yarn. It is often interwoven with different materials such as cotton, nylon, viscose yarn, polyester and nylon. Different materials can be used for weaving according to different purposes.

Velvet is divided into flower and vegetable. The surface of plain velvet looks like a pile loop, while floral velvet cuts part of the pile loop into fluff according to the pattern, and the pattern is composed of fluff and pile loop. Flower velvet can also be divided into two types: “bright flowers” and “dark flowers”. The patterns are mostly in the patterns of Tuanlong, Tuanfeng, Wufu Pengshou, flowers and birds, and Bogu. The woven floor is often expressed by the concavity and convexity, and the colors are mainly black, jam purple, apricot yellow, blue, and brown.

Velvet maintenance method

1: When wearing or using, pay attention to reducing friction and pulling as much as possible. After getting dirty, change and wash frequently to keep the fabric clean.

2: When it is stored, it should be washed, dried, ironed and stacked neatly.

3: Velvet is highly hygroscopic, and mildew caused by high temperature, high humidity or unclean environment should be prevented as much as possible during collection.

4: Garments made of velvet fabric are suitable for washing, not dry cleaning.

5: The ironing temperature can be controlled within the range of 120 to 140 degrees.

6: When ironing, it is required to iron at a moderate temperature. In ironing, it is necessary to pay attention to techniques and use less pushing and pulling to make the clothes stretch and align naturally.

Advantages of velvet

The velvet is plump, fine, soft, comfortable and beautiful. It is elastic, does not shed hair, does not pilling, and has good water absorption performance, which is three times of that of cotton products, and has no irritation to the skin.

The velvet fluff or pile loop is close and stands up, and the color is elegant. The fabric is firm and wear-resistant, not easy to fade, and has good resilience.

Velvet products require high grade, low linear density, long length and good maturity of fine and long velvet quality cotton.

The exquisite touch, flowing pendency and elegant luster of velvet are still incomparable with other fabrics, so it has always been the favorite choice of fashion painters.
