Corduroy

Corduroy

Corduroy is mainly made of cotton, and is also blended or interwoven with polyester, acrylic, spandex and other fibers. Corduroy is a fabric with longitudinal velvet strips formed on its surface, which is cut weft and raised, and is composed of velvet weave and ground weave. After processing, such as cutting and brushing, the surface of the fabric appears as a corduroy with obvious bulges, hence the name.

Function:

Corduroy fabric is elastic, smooth and soft, with clear and round velvet strips, soft and even luster, thick and wear-resistant, but it is easy to tear, especially the tear strength along the velvet strip is low.

During the wearing process of corduroy fabric, its fuzz part contacts with the outside world, especially the elbow, collar, cuff, knee and other parts of the clothing are subject to external friction for a long time, and the fuzz is easy to fall off.

Usage:

Corduroy velvet strip is round and plump, wear-resistant, thick, soft and warm. It is mainly used for clothing, shoes and hats in autumn and winter, and also suitable for furniture decorative cloth, curtains, sofa fabric, handicrafts, toys, etc.

Common classification

Elastic-type

Elastic corduroy: elastic fibers are added to some warp and weft yarns at the bottom of corduroy to obtain elastic corduroy. The addition of polyurethane fiber can improve the comfort of clothing, and can be made into tight fitting clothing; The utility model is favorable for the compact structure of the bottom cloth and preventing the corduroy from shedding; The utility model can improve the shape retention of the clothes, and improve the phenomenon of the knee arch and elbow arch of the traditional cotton clothes.

Viscose type

Viscose corduroy: using viscose as the velvet warp can improve the drapability, light feeling and hand feeling of traditional corduroy. Viscose corduroy has improved drapability, bright luster, bright color and smooth hand feeling, which is like velvet.

Polyester type

Polyester corduroy: With the accelerated pace of life, people pay more attention to the easy maintenance, washability and wearability of clothing. Therefore, polyester corduroy made of polyester is also an indispensable branch of the product. It is not only bright in color, good in washability and wearability, but also good in shape retention, which is suitable for making casual outerwear.

Colored cotton type

Colored cotton corduroy: In order to meet the needs of today’s environmental protection, the application of new environment-friendly materials to corduroy will certainly make it glow with new vitality. For example, thin corduroy made of natural colored cotton (or main raw materials) is used as a close fitting shirt for men and women, especially for children in spring and autumn, which has a protective effect on the human body and the environment. Yarn dyed corduroy: traditional corduroy is mainly dyed by matching and printed. If it is processed into color woven products, it can be designed into different colors of velvet and ground (which can be strongly contrasted), mixed color of velvet, gradual change of velvet color and other effects. Yarn dyed and printed fabrics can also cooperate with each other. Although the cost of dyeing and printing is low, and the cost of yarn dyed weaving is slightly high, the richness of patterns and colors will bring endless vitality to corduroy. Cutting is the most important finishing process of corduroy and a necessary means of raising corduroy. The traditional corduroy cutting method is always unchanged, which has become an important reason for restricting the development of corduroy.

Thick thin strip

Thick and thin corduroy: This fabric adopts the method of partial cutting to make the normal raised fabric form the lines of thick and thin. Due to the different length of the fluff, the thick and thin corduroy strips are scattered in order, which enriches the visual effect of the fabric.

Intermittent cutting type

Intermittent corduroy cutting: generally, the corduroy is cut by floating long lines. If intermittent cutting is adopted, the weft floating long lines are cut off at intervals, forming both the vertical bulges of the fluff and the parallel arranged sags of the weft floating long lines. The effect is embossed, with strong three-dimensional sense and novel and unique appearance. Fluff and non fluff concavity and convex form variable stripes, grids and other geometric patterns.

Flying hair type

Flying hair corduroy: This style of corduroy needs to combine the cutting process with the fabric structure to form a richer visual effect. The normal corduroy fluff has a V-shaped or W-shaped unity at the root. When it needs to be exposed to the ground, the department will remove its ground tissue fixed points, so that the pile weft floating length will pass through the pile warp and cross the two tissues. When cutting the pile, a section of pile weft between the two guide needles will be cut off at both ends and absorbed by the pile suction device, thus forming a stronger relief effect. If matched with the application of raw materials, the ground tissue uses filament, which is thin and transparent, and can form the effect of burnt out velvet.

Frost pattern

Frosted corduroy was developed in 1993 and swept the domestic market of China from 1994 to 1996. From south to north, the “Frost Fever” gradually slowed down. After 2000, the export market began to sell well. From 2001 to 2004, it reached its peak. Now it has a stable demand as a product of conventional corduroy style. The frosting technique can be used in various specifications where the velvet is cellulose fiber. It peels off the dye from the corduroy tip through oxidation-reduction agent to form the effect of frosting. This effect not only caters to the returning tide and imitation tide, but also changes the irregular lodging or whitening of the velvet at the places easy to wear when the corduroy is used, and improves the wearing performance and fabric grade.

On the basis of the conventional finishing process of corduroy, water washing process is added, and a small amount of fading agent is added to the washing solution, so that the fluff will fade naturally and randomly in the process of washing, forming the effect of imitating old whitening and frosting.

Frost products can be made into full frosting products and interval frosting products, and interval frosting products can be formed by interval frosting and then hairing, or by shearing high and low stripes. No matter which style has been highly recognized and popular in the market, the frosting technique is still a model of adding big style changes to corduroy products so far.

Bicolor type

The grooves and fluff of the two-color corduroy show different colors, and through the harmonious combination of the two colors, a product style of flickering brilliance in the hazy, deep and enthusiastic is created, so that the fabric can show the effect of color change in the dynamic and static.

The formation of double color corduroy gutter can be achieved through three ways: making use of different dyeing properties of various fibers, changing the process of similar fibers, and yarn dyed combination. Among them, the production of bicolor effect produced by similar fibers through process change is the most difficult, mainly because the reproducibility of the effect is difficult to grasp.

Use the different dyeing properties of various fibers to produce a two-color effect: combine the warp, bottom weft and pile weft with different fibers, dye with the dyes corresponding to the fibers, and then select and match the colors of different colored dyes to form a ever-changing two-color product. For example, polyester, nylon, cotton, hemp, viscose, etc. are dyed with disperse dyes and acid dyes, while cotton is dyed with another component, so that the dyeing process is easy to control and the finished product is relatively stable. As the reactive dyes used to dye cellulose fibers also have certain dye uptake on protein fibers, acid dyes can dye silk, wool and nylon at the same time. Protein fibers are not resistant to the high temperature required for disperse dyeing and other reasons. Similar to cotton/wool, wool/polyester, silk/nylon and other combinations, they are not suitable for the post double dyeing process.

This method not only caters to the trend of complementary advantages of various fiber materials, but also makes them produce rich style changes. However, the limitation of this method is the selection of two kinds of materials. It requires not only completely different dyeing properties that do not affect each other, but also meets the requirements that one dyeing process cannot damage the properties of another fiber. Therefore, most of these products are chemical fiber and cellulose fiber, and the polyester cotton two-color products are the most easy to grasp and the most mature, and have become a popular product in the industry.

The same kind of fibers produce a two-color effect through process changes: this refers to the production of groove and velvet two-color products on corduroy of the same kind of raw materials, mostly refers to cellulose fibers, which can be achieved through the combination and changes of frosting, dyeing, coating, printing and other techniques. Frost dyed two-color is generally applicable to products with dark background/bright surface. Color coated two-color is mostly applicable to medium and light background/deep surface antique products. Printing two-color can be used with all kinds of colors, but it is selective for dyes.
